World No-Tobacco Day was celebrated on Sunday in Khulna's Paikgachha upazila with the theme of "Protecting children from tobacco industry interference".
On this occasion, a discussion was held at Officers Club Auditorium organized by the upazila administration.
Paikgachha Upazila Parishad Chairman Anwar Iqbal Montu was the chief guest at the discussion presided over by the upazila nirbahi officer Mahera Nazneen.
Paikgachha Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Nitish Chandra Goldar delivered the welcome speech at the discussion. At that time, Principal Professor Samaresh Roy, Secondary Education Officer Shahjahan Ali Sheikh, Social Service Officer Anath Kumar Biswas, Women Affairs Officer Reshma Akhtar, Youth Development Officer Parveen Akter Banu, URC Instructor Iman Uddin, Safe Food Officer Uday Kumar Mondal, Information Service Officer Tanbi Das, Public Health Sub-Assistant Engineer Shahadat Hussain, Councilor SM Tayebur Rahman, Kabita Das, Principal Shahidul Islam, SI Sujit, Former Principal Ramendranath Sarkar and Teacher Abdul Wahab were present at that time.
Earlier, a colorful procession was brought out which paraded the streets of the upazila sadar.
