Four people murdered in four dists

Four people including a pregnant woman have been murdered in separate incidents in four districts - Mymensingh, Narail, Thakurgaon and Rangamati, in two days.
NANDAIL, MYMENSINGH: A teenage boy stabbed to death in a clash over distributing leaflets for the upcoming Upazila Parishad election in Nandail Upazila of the district on Friday night.
The incident took place near Notun Bazar Chandipasha School in Ward No. 9 under Nandail Municipality at around 8:30 pm.
The deceased was identified as Md Murad Bhuiyan, 17, son of Tofazzal Hossain Bhuiyan, a resident of Kakchar Colony under ward No. 2 in the municipality. He was an HSC candidate from a local college this year.
According to deceaseds family members, Murad Bhuiyan along with some teenagers went to distribute the election leaflets of Emdadul Haque Bhuiyan, the chairman candidate with Pineapple symbol in the Upazila Parishad election. After finishing distributing the leaflets, when he was returning home, a group of miscreants blocked his way and stabbed him on the ground of Government Chandipasha High School, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued then rescued Murad and took him to Nandail Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty physicians referred him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) as his condition worsened further.
Later on, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to the MMCH.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
Confirming the death matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nandail Model Police Station (PS) Md Abdul Majid said a tense situation was prevailing in the area due to the killing.
However, the actual reason behind the killing could not be ascertained yet, he said.
Legal actions will be taken upon investigation, the OC added.
NARAIL: A man was hacked to death reportedly by miscreants in Kalia Upazila of the district on Friday night.
The killing incident took place in Charkandipara area of Kalabaria Village under the upazila at around 8:30 pm.
The deceased was identified as Anis Sheikh, 32, son of Mosharaf Hossain, a resident of the aforesaid area.
Local sources said that Anis went to a brick kiln in Charkandipara area at night, where a group of miscreants hacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.
After hearing his screams, local people rushed there and rescued him in critical condition.
Later on, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Though the deceaseds brother and Kalabaria Union Parishad (UP) Member Sohel Sheikh claimed that the killing might have took place over political issue, but it was known from several sources that Anis was involved in drugs smuggling.
Naragati PS OC Md Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that efforts are going on to identify and arrest the miscreants and legal actions would be taken in this regard.
THAKURGAON: A young man reportedly strangled his pregnant wife to death over a family dispute in Sadar Upazila of the district on Friday noon.
Deceased Shahnaj Akter, 20, was four months pregnant and wife of the accused Bishal Rahman, 22, who is the son of Faruque Hossain and a resident of Uttarpara Village under Rahimanpur Union in the upazila.
Since the incident happened, Bishal and his family members went into hiding.
According to locals and the deceaseds family members, Shahnaj and Bishal got married one year back following an affair between them. Subsequently, a family dispute erupted in the family over dowry money, and at one stage, the family members of Bishal started torturing Shahnaj.
Later on, the neighbours rushed to Bishals house after hearing the scream of Shahnaj and found her lying dead on the bed at early hours on Friday. Seeing the neighbours, Bishal and his entire family members fled the scene.
Being informed, police have recovered the body at noon and sent it to Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Thakurgaon Sadar PS OC ABM Firoz Wahid confirmed the incident, adding that the actual reason behind her death would be known after getting the autopsy report.
RANGAMATI: A local UP chairman, who was shot by miscreants a week back in Belaichhari Upazila of the district, succumbed to his injuries at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Atumong Marma, 51, chairman of No. 4 Barathli Union in Belaichhari Upazila of the district.
Belaichhari Upazila Parishad Chairman Birottom Tanchanga acknowledging the matter said on May 22 last, a group of miscreants reportedly opened fire aiming Atumong Marma while he was taking preparation for dinner in the house house. He got gunshot in his hand and leg at that time.
Locals then rescued him in critical condition and took him to neighbouring Ruma Upazila Health Complex in Bandarban District at around 6 am on May 23 last.
Later on, he was shifted to the CMCH from Ruma Upazila Health Complex following the deterioration of his condition, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday night while undergoing treatment, the Upazila Parishad chairman added.
