A Dhaka court on Friday placed three accused on a further five-day remand each in a case filed following the murder of lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar in Kolkata on May 13.
The three remanded accused are Amanullah Syed alias Shimul Bhuiyan, Celesty Rahman and Tanvir Bhuiyan.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shanto Islam Mallik passed the order after Assistant Commissioner, Mahfujur
Rahman of Detective Branch (DB) of police, also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced the trio before it on completion of their first phase of eight-day remand.
The IO prayed to the court to grant eight days of remand for further questioning, said GRO Mohammad Jalal Uddin.
Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Abdullah Abu appeared in the court and pleaded to grant remand as per IOs plea.
In the second phase remand hearing no lawyer stood for them in the court.
The IO said in his remand prayer that the sensational murder case is now a talk of the town and the accused had admitted to the killing to police during interrogation in custody.
Bangladesh-born US citizen Akhtaruzzaman Shahin had been planning to kill Anwarul Azim for a long time as the MP had an enmity with Shahin over business transaction.
Another accused Shimul Bhuiyan, a leader of Purba Bangla Communist Party, had a conflict over political ideology between MP Anar and him.
That is why Shahin and Shimul had killed MP Anar.
As part of their plan, the Shimul Bhuiyan, Celesty Rahman went to the flat at the Sanjeeva Gardens at New town on April 30.
US citizen Shahin gave responsibility to Shimul Bhuiyan, Celesty Rahman of killing MP Anar and he returned to Bangladesh on May 10. Later the accused in name of business talks using technique brought MP Anar to the flat.
As part of the killing mission the accused Celesty got the responsibility to receive MP Anar at Sanjeeva Gardens at New Town in Kolkata.
According to the plot of Shahin, the accused killed MP Anar. With the help of other accused they separated bone and flesh from the MPs dead body and cut the body into small pieces and dumped some flesh pieces into the commode and flushed it down and disposed of some portion of the flesh and other parts of the body into Bagjola canal in a trolley bag, the IO added
Earlier on May 24 another Dhaka Court placed three accused on eight-day remand in first phase in the sensational murder case.
According to the case statement filed by Dorin, daughter of Anar, the MP left his official residence at Manik Mia Avenue for his village home in Jhenaidah on May 9.
She last spoke with him around 4:45am on May 11 over phone, which was found switched off later on.
Investigator said Anar was killed on May 13 in Kolkata. The killers later dismembered the body and mutilated it in such a way that it would be tough to identify it.
