The third phase of the sixth upazila parishad elections held three upazilas in Noakhali on Wednesday ( May 29).
AKM Shamsuddin Jihan has been elected as the chairman of Noakhali Sadar Upazila Parishad getting 47,590 votes, while his nearest rival candidate MH Shawkhat Reza got 36,776 votes.
In Begumganj upazila, Md Shahed Shariar has been re-elected as the upazila chairman with 36,787 votes. His closest competitor Shakhawat Hossain Azim got 29,725 votes.
On the other hand, Golam Sharif Chowdhury Pipul has been elected as the chairman of Companiganj upazila. He secured 48,166 votes with 'Pineapple symbol', while his nearest rival candidate got 18,869 votes.
All three upazilas chairmen are Awami League leaders.
The information confirmed by returning officers on Wednesday night.
