Trader fined for extracting sand

TALTALI, BARGUNA, May 26: A mobile court here on Saturday fined a trader Tk 60,000 for illegally extracting sand from Niddra Canal in Taltali Upazila of the district.

The mobile court led by Taltali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Sifat Anwar Tumpa conducted a drive in Niddra area at around 10 am and imposed the fine on trader Abdus Salam.
There were agreements with the sand trader for lifting sand, said the UNO.

He was fined, and the agreement for sand extraction was cancelled due to violating the terms of the agreement, the UNO added.
