
Honda Foundation from Japan organised Honda Young Engineer and Scientists (Y-E-S) Award - 2023 in Bangladesh on Sunday.
This Award is given to young university students who are studying in Engineering and Science fields in the BUET, CUET, KUET and RUET.
The event was attended by IWAMA Kiminori, Japanese Ambassador in Bangladesh, Dr. Ainun Nishat, Chief Evaluator of Honda Y-E-S award program in Bangladesh, Akira Kiminori , Chairman of International Committee and Director of Honda Foundation, Mrs. Norie Arai, Secretary of Honda Foundation.
It was also attended by Shigeru Matsuzaki, Managing Director and CEO of Bangladesh Honda Private Limited, S. A. Abul Hayat, Actor, Writer and Civil Engineer, Shah Muhammad Ashequr Rahman, FCA, Chief Marketing Officer of Bangladesh Honda Private Limited and representatives of respective universities.
The winners of this years Honda Young Engineer and Scientists (Y-E-S) Award are- Labiba Islam Salsabil, Farsia Kawsar Chowdhury Md. Toki Tahmid and S.M. Sakeef Sani from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET). The objective of this award is to "foster future leaders in science and technology fields to spearhead the growth of Asian countries in the future".
In Bangladesh, Honda Foundation (HOF) intends to arrange Y-E-S (Young Engineer & Scientists) Award with four public Engineering universities such as Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) .Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) and Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET)
The programme annually selects up to 4 undergraduate students of its designated universities in Bangladesh to award a USD 3,000 each student. Furthermore, the awardees can receive as additional award / grant up to USD 10,000 under Honda Y-E-S Award Plus program, if they continue study and training within 4 years after the receipt of the Honda Y-E-S Award either via masters, doctoral or study abroad programs in Japanese universities or via internship programs in Japanese research organizations or private companies in Japan as approved by the Honda Foundation.
Professor Dr. Ainun Nishat, former Vice Chancellor- BRAC University; Prof. Tateo Arimoto, Executive Director of Honda Foundation; Ichiguchi Tomohide Chief Representative, Bangladesh Office JICA; S. A Abul Hayat Writer Civil Engineer and others evaluated the award.
