Trader fined for illegally extracting sand from Borguna canal

A mobile court in Borguna fined a trader Tk 60,000 on the charge of illegally extracting sand from Niddra canal at Taltali upazila in Barguna district on Saturday.

The mobile court, led by upazila nirbahi officer and executive magistrate Sifat Anwar Tumpa, raided in Niddra area around 10 am on Saturday and imposed the fine on trader Abdus Salam.

There were agreements with the sand trader for lifting sand, said Sifat Anwar Tumpa, Taltali upazila nirbahi officer. 

He was fined, and the agreement for sand extraction was canceled due to violating the terms of the agreement, she added.
