Five people found dead in four districts

Five people including two women have been found dead in separate incidents in five districts - Brahmanbaria, Kushtia, Natore and Netrakona, in two days.

BIJOYNAGAR, BRAHMANBARIA: Police recovered the body of a young woman from a canal in Bijoynagar Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased, aged about 23, could not be known immediately.

Police sources said locals spotted the body of the woman in a canal adjacent to Milon Bazar in Champaknagar Union of the upazila in the morning and informed the matter to police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Brahmanbaria General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The body several injury marks on its mouth and throat.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bijoynagar Police Station (PS) Asadul Islam confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to identify the deceased.

DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA: The body of teenage boy, who went missing while bathing in the Padma River on Thursday, was recovered from it in Daulatpur Upazila of the district on Friday morning.

Deceased Aslam Hossain, 15, was the son of Baru Malitha of Bhurka Madhypara Padmar Chara under Maricha Union in the upazila.

Local Union Parishad (UP) Member Monowara Khatun said some 10 to 12 boys including Aslam went to the river to take bath in Bhurka Madhypara Padmar Char area on Thursday afternoon. At one stage, he drowned and went missing there, she said, adding that though all searched for him, he could not be found.

Later on, divers from Khulna Fire Service Department conducted a search operation on Friday morning and retrieved the body from the river, the UP member added.

Kushtias Bheramara Fire Service Station Officer Shariful Islam confirmed the incident, saying that the body was handed over to the deceaseds family members after legal procedures.

BARAIGRAM, NATORE: Police recovered the body of a woman from a grass field in Baraigram Upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon. The identity of the deceased, aged about 40, could not be known immediately.

Police sources said locals spotted the body of the woman lying on a grass field adjacent to the Boral River in Ward No. 10 Kalikapara Berpara area under Bonpara Municipality of the upazila at around 5:30 pm and informed the matter to police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Additional Superintend of Police in Baraigram Circle Sharif Al Rajib confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to identify the deceased.

NETRAKONA: Two people including a schoolboy were found dead in separate incidents in Durgapur and Purbadhala upazilas of the district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Ilal Khan, 40, son of late Abul Hasan Khan, a resident of Shreepur Village under Gaonkandia Union in Durgapur Upazila; and Akib Hasan Mahin, 17, a tenth grader at Jagatmani Government Pilot High School and son of Faruq Ahmed of Rajpara area in Purbadhala.

Locals said Ilal Khan of Durgapur Upazila had been suffering from mental instability for long. At around 5 am on Thursday, locals found his body hanging from a branch of a tree next to the house and informed police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceaseds family members without an autopsy as per their request.

Durgapur PS Inspector (Investigation) Mahfuz Alam confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed in this regard.

Meanwhile, Akib had been missing since Wednesday noon when he along with his friends Saimon, 18, and Abir Hossain went to visit Rajdhala Beel area in Purbadhala Upazila.

Later on, his body was found on the west corner of the Rajdhala Beel on Thursday morning.

Being informed, police recovered the body at around 11:30 am and sent it to Netrakona Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

His family members alleged that Akib might have been killed in a planned way.
