Bangladesh Ju-Jitsu Association GS between two arrested on rape charges

Bangladesh Ju-Jitsu Association general secretary Rafiqul Islam Newton has been arrested on charge of rape.

Rapid Action Battlion (RAB-12) arrested two accused including Newton from Shah Ali Police Station and Mirpur Police Station areas on Saturday.
RAB's Legal and Media Wing director Commander Arafat Islam confirmed it.

There are allegations that Rafiqul Islam Newton raped a female jujitsu repeatedly threatening to spread her photographs and videos on social media.

It may be mentioned that the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) voluntarily took over the allegation (suo moto) after a news, headlined, "[He] used to take away chastity of trainees in the name of teaching kung-fu-karate" was published in a newspaper.

The NHRC also sent a letter to the the Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports asking him to submit a report after taking legal action on the basis of an inquiry into the complaint.

There are allegations that Newton was involved in rape and physical torture on a number of female players including gold medal recipients sports women.

Moreover, there are allegations against a female player of Ju-Jitsu Association to assist Newton to rape the female trainees.
