A
court in
Rangpur on Tuesday sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for killing a
college student at Pirgacha upazila in the district in 2014.
Fazle Khuda Md Nazir, the judge of Rangpur Senior District and Session's Court, delivered the verdict against Saiful, 32, on Tuesday afternoon, said public prosecutor of the court Abdul Malek.
The court also fined the convict Tk 20,000, in default, he will has to serve more one year in jail, he added.
According to the case statement, the victim Taukir Ahmed Tushar, 22, an honors student of Carmichael College, had an altercation with the convict Saiful on July 30 of 2014. In sequel to it, Saiful brutally stabbed Taukir to death in the evening of the same day.
Later, the victim's uncle Md Abdul Hamid Mia filed a
murder case with Pirgacha Police Station.
After hearing the witnesses and examining evidences, the court awarded Saiful with the life-term imprisonment on Tuesday (May 14, 2024).
