There was not so much discrimination in the history of Bangladesh as it is now, said Leader of the Opposition in parliament and Jatiya Party (JaPa) chairman GM Quader on Saturday (May 11).
"Had there been a Nobel Prize for creating discrimination and inequalities, the present Awami League government of Bangladesh would have received it," he said while speaking at an opinion exchange meeting organised by the Dhaka City North unit of JaPa at the party chairman's office at Banani in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
GM Quader also said, "Look! I've got a country. The people of our country will ask me to form a government and change the government. But, now you can see that the ownership of the people has been robbed off. They don't have the ownership of their country anymore. This is the reality."
The JaPa chairman further said, "Nothing is happening in the country now that a government will be changed at the will of people. People have no right to speak in Bangladesh now."
The Leader of the Opposition in parliament observed that the present government has already occupied the country using its power. "Now the government will not move ahead at the directive of people, rather people will have to move ahead at the government's directive.
The chairman of JaPa said, "We want a society free from inequalities and discrimination. Those who have created discrimination, we want that they all die."
Addressing the party leaders and workers, he said, "We must have to understand that whether we will remain beside people or go for opportunities and benefits. If we want to stay beside people, we will have to take preparation to sacrifice ourselves. Those who have been lured by the offers of opportunities, I think that these offers are very short-lived. They will lose their importance in the days ahead."
