BNP Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Sunday that the movement for restoration of democracy has become stronger in the face of the Awami League governments persecution of opposition leaders and activists and misrule.
According to a BNP press release, the fascist government has started implementing its blue print by denying bails and imprisoning BNP leaders and activists implicating them in false cases.
Dinajpur district BNP joint general secretary and Ghoraghat town BNP president former Ghoraghat Mayor Abdus Sattar Milon was denied bail and sent to jail and 27 leaders and activists of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP were denied bail and sent to jail.
Mirza Fakhrul expressed deep concern about the ongoing unjust sentencing of BNP and opposition leaders and activists in false cases and sending them to jail custody by refusing them bails.
He demanded immediate and unconditional release of all of them and withdrawal of false cases against the leaders of BNP and other opposition political parties.
In a separate statement, Fakhrul wished the speedy recovery of eminent economist Prof Anu Muhammad member secretary of the National Committee for the Protection of Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources and Power-Port, who was injured in a train accident on Sunday.
