Missing youth's body recovered from septic tank in Gaibandha

The body of a young man, who went missing on Wednesday, was recovered from a septic tank in Gaibandha's Saghata on Friday night.

The deceased was Md Samrat, a resident of Sampur village under Muktinagar union of the upazila.
Police arrested Samrat’s friend Rifat, a resident of Bati village of the same union, in this connection.

According to police, Samrat and Rifat were friends and Samrat sold his camera to Rifat in exchange of Tk 1500 after Eid. On Wednesday, Samrat went to Rifat’s house with the money to take back his camera. Rifat did not want to return the camera and fed slipping pills to Samrat, leaving him unconscious. He along with some friends dumped the body in a septic tank.

Samrat’s family filed a missing diary with Saghata Police Station and police arrested his friend Rifat on suspicion.

According to his confession, Samrat's body was recovered from the septic tank of a house on Friday night.

Saghata Police Station officer-in-charge Momtazul Haque said a drive is underway to arrest those involved in the murder.
