Police on Sunday recovered the body of a teenager, who was killed reportedly by his drug addict friends at Sarishabari upazila in Jamalpur district, four days after he went missing.

The victim was Uzzal Mia, 14, son of Ushar Ali, a resident of Charbalia village under Duail union of the upazila.
Family members of the victim said that someone called Uzzal out of his house after Iftar on Wednesday. Later, an anonymous person contacted with the family members and demanded Tk 5,000 as ransom.

"They also threatened that if the money was not paid they will kill Uzzal," they said.

After being threatened by the killers, the victim's father Ushar Ali lodged a complaint with Sarishabari Police Station.

Following the complaint, police had detained one suspected Shahabuddin but he secured bail with the help of local UP member.

Later on Sunday afternoon, locals and police found Uzzal's body inside a septic tank of a neighbour, following a malodour coming from the tank.

Locals alleged that the most of the friends of the victim Uzzal are drug addict and they used to run a juvenile gang in the area.

"They (gang members) might have killed Uzzal," said the locals.

Sarishabari Police Station officer-in-charge Mushfiqur Rahman said police have recovered the body and sent it to a hospital morgue for autopsy.

"Police have also detained two suspected, Abu Sayeed and Saddam Hossain, for questioning and legal action would be taken after investigation," added the police officer.
