BNP Vice Chairman Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said on Thursday "Influence of international power in Bangladeshs internal politics gradually pushed the people of the country towards domestic conflicts as in Myanmar."

Speaking at a press conference after attending a meeting of a BNP committee formed for to celebrate Independence Day at BNP Chairpersons Gulshan office, he  urged the youth to be prepared to see such a situation.

Hafiz said, "After returning to power BNP will turn  students into a citizen army with military training like in South Korea."

"Today, our neighbouring countries or  superpowers of the world want to subjugate us. Thats why we have to play role like our Liberation War to keep  our people free from foreign forces," said Hafiz.

Hafiz said ruling Awami League (AL) does not want to give any credit to those who fought against the Pakistani occupation during the War of Independence.

He said that, AL thinks that the independence of Bangladesh had been achieved by AL alone, and denies contributions of the masses including students, youths, workers, farmers and soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice.

Seven crore people in the country at the time unitedly participated in the War of Independence. But ruling AL is trying to project the Liberation War as its property," said Hafiz.

He said, "Zias declaration of independence motivated people from every corner to join the Liberation War, but today, AL portrays him as an agent of Pakistans Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)."

He said that AL is distorting the history of the Liberation War. During the war, the number of freedom fighters was 80,000-100,000, but today  about 2,50,000 get allowances and other benefits as freedom fighters.

He said that the quality of education is continuously deteriorating. But Awami League government took no initiative to protect our students.

He said that international organisations, intelligence agencies and the present government are  behind this degradation.
