Five men were crushed under train in separate incidents in four districts- Joypurhat, Gaibandha, Rajshahi and Dinajpur, recently.
JOYPURHAT: A man was crushed under a train in Sadar Upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.
The identity of the deceased, aged about 60, could not be known immediately.
It was known that the Chilahati-bound Simanta Express train from Khulna hit the man while he was walking along the rail line in Harizon Colony area at around 6:30 am. He died on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Joypurhat Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Santahar Railway Police Station (PS) Naren Das confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are trying to identify the deceased and necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
GAIBANDHA: A man was crushed under a train in Sadar Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Utpal Chandra, 40, a resident of Bhelakopa Village under Sadar Upazila. He was a worker at a fertiliser shop at Kalir Bazar in Fulchhari Upazila.
According to locals, the Lalmonirhat-bound Lalmoni Express train hit the man while he was walking on the rail track in Shukan Digi area at around 9 am. He died on the spot.
Gaibandha Railway PS SI Faruk Mia confirmed the incident.
RAJSHAHI: Two people were killed after a train rammed a three-wheeler (nosimon) in Paba Upazila of the district on Monday afternoon.
The incident took place on the Mohanpur rail-crossing in the upazila at around 4 pm.
The deceased were identified as the three-wheeler driver Md Mofa, 37, and his helper Habib, son of Md Hanif, a resident of Kamar Dhadhas area under Puthia upazila in the district.
According to locals, the Padma Express Train was heading towards Dhaka from Rajshahi Railway Station. On the way, the train rammed the woods-laden three-wheeler in the afternoon when it came into the middle of railway track, which left the duo dead on the spot.
Rajshahi Fire Service Station Deputy Director Akter Hamid Khan confirmed the incident, adding that on information, they recovered the bodies from the scene and handed those over to the Railway Police.
Gopal Karmaker, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rajshahi Railway PS, confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
PARBATIPUR, DINAJPUR: A man was crushed under a train in Parbatipur Upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.
The accident took place in Choto Brittipara area of the upazila at around 5 pm.
The deceased was identified as Nayan Das, 32, son of late Narayan Das, a resident of the area. He was a mentally-disabled person.
Local sources said a train hit him when Nayan was sitting on the railway track in Choto Brittipara area in the afternoon, which left him dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
Parbatipur Railway PS OC Sakiul Azam confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
