Bangladesh judoka Dipu Dewan wins two gold medals

Bangladesh judoka Dipu Dewan won two gold medals for the country in the 2nd Jita-Kyoei International Judo Competition in Bhutan in the evening on Wednesday. His fellow Anisur Rahman Akash won a silver medal in the competition.

Jita-Kyoei Judo Training Camp and the 2nd Jita-Kyoei International Judo Competition were held in the Bhutanese capital Thimphu from 10 to 14 February.

There, Dipu won his first gold in the singles of +66 kg weight category and the second gold in the team event. Anisur won his silver in the singles -66 kg weight category.

Bangladesh Judo Federation (BJF) General Secretary Kamrun Nahar Hiru is the team leader of the Bangladesh contingent in Bhutan.

Jita-Kyoei is one of the two basic principles of Judo. It means mutual welfare and benefits. In the Ancient Greek philosophy and the Japanese oriental philosophy, the society is more important than an individual. The purpose of Jita-Kyoei Judo is to benefit the growth of society as a whole.
