Saraswati Puja celebrated in districts

Saraswati Puja was celebrated on Wednesday across the country with the spirit of pursuing education and knowledge, traditional gaiety and due religious fervour.

The puja is celebrated everywhere on Vasant Panchami, the birth day of Goddess Swaraswati and fifth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Magh.

Hindu devotees, specially the students and the youths, celebrated the Saraswati Puja in different educational institutions and temples and houses setting up colourful mandaps and placing the idol of the goddess with different types of sweet meets, fruits and other items and articles of handicrafts.

BARISHAL: To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in the district.

The puja was celebrated in 23 mandaps set up in different areas including on the field of Barishal Government Brojomohun College in the city.

Besides, the puja was also celebrated in different educations institutions including Barishal University, Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Government Womens College and Amritalal De College.

BOGURA: In this connection, different programmes were organized in the district.

The programmes included religious rituals, special prayer, Aroti, prosad distribution, cultural function and bani archana.  

Hindu devotees, specially the students and the youths, celebrated the Saraswati Puja in different educational institutions, temples and houses in the district town like elsewhere in the country.

The students prayed to the Goddess Saraswati at different mandaps for achieving their expected success in the sector of education. The Day was also a holyday at the educational institutions.

Among the educational institutions, the puja was also celebrated in Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, Government Azizul Haque College, Government Shah Sultan College, Mujibur Rahman College, and Biam Model School and College in a festive mood.   

Besides, a barni archana was held at Bogura Police Lines School and College in the district town on the occasion of the Day.

A total of 26 winners were given prizes at the bani archana competition there in seven categories.

Superintend of Police in Bogura Sudip Kumar Chakrabarty handed over the prizes to the winners as the chief guest.

Convenor of the banai archana programme Lecturer Apurba Kumar Majumder moderated the function.

District Education Officer Hazrat Ali and Advisor of Puja Udjapan Committee Lecturer Nasima Sultana, among others, were also present at that time.

GAIBANDHA: On this occasion, most of the educational institutions of the district town constructing puja mandaps placed the books and educational items on the foot of the idol of Saraswati to get her blessing in educational life. Religious rituals, special prayer, Aroti, discussion meeting, and cultural functions were also held on this occasion.

She is the Hindu goddess possesses all the learning of the Vedas, scriptures, dancing, musical power and poetry, knowledge, speech (Vae), revealed language and writing and represents the union of power and intelligence, from which organized creation arises.

Saraswati is also the symbol of wisdom, fortune, intelligence, nourishment, brilliance, contentment, splendor and devotion, said Sudev Chowdhury, district unit general secretary of Bangladesh Puja Celebration Parishad.

Like other high schools of the district, the Saraswati Puja was also held at Kamarjani Merchants High School of Sadar Upazila on Wednesday. The Hindu students of the school placed the books and educational materials on the foot of the idol Swarasati to get her blessing.
 
Religious rituals, special prayer, Aroti, and discussion meeting, were also held on this occasion, said Faruqul Islam, head teacher of the school.

Apart from it, Hindu students of Gaibandha Government College, the biggest academic institution of the district also arranged the Saraswati Puja in the morning.

Principal of the college Professor Khalilur Rahman along with other teachers visited the puja mandap as the chief guest and exchanged the greetings with the students on the occasion of puja.

Similar reports on celebration of Saraswati Puja were received here from other six upazilas of the district.
