CHATTOGRAM, Feb 11: Students of Chemistry Department of Chittagong University on Sunday held demonstration in protest against the inaction of the university administration in  taking action even after 11 days after filing a complaint against a teacher accused of attempted rape.

The students announced that they will continue their protests until the accused teacher was removed and a case was filed against him. The students held the demonstration in front of the administrative building of the university  holding placards and chanting slogans demanding a safe campus and punishment of the accused teacher.

The offices of the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Registrar are located in the administrative building of the University. At one point, the university authorities promised to resolve the issue quickly.

Students of the chemistry department told the Daily Observer, We have two demands, sacking the accused teacher and the filing a case against him by the university authorities. The protests will continue until the demands are met, they said.

The Syndicate meeting of the university is scheduled to be held on Tuesday. The CU authorities assured the students that a decision might be taken.

The protesters said, The accused teacher harassed students in various ways on social media. He used to send obscene SMS to students and make video calls.

Many former students are his victims, they said adding this teacher has lost his moral right to come to the campus. We don want such teachers.
