Urging all to come forward to ensure safe food, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder on Thursday said safe food is required to build a healthy, strong and talented nation.

The minister said this while inaugurating Safe Food Carnival at Bangabandhu International Conference centre here.

Sadhan Chandra said it costs a little more to get quality food. Everyone should have the mentality of taking less but quality food, he said.

Exportable food items must ensure quality to gain confidence of foreign buyers and everyone should buy food only after confirming its quality, he said.

The minister urged the religious leaders and school teachers to create awareness about the safe food.

He said Bangladesh becomes a food sufficient country. Now we are working to ensure safe and nutrition food for all.

Food secretary Md Ismail Hossain addressed the programme as special guest while Bangladesh Safe Food Authority chairman Md Abdul Kayowm Sarker was in the chair.    —BSS
