Peruvian citizen jailed for life for possessing 3kg of cocaine

A Dhaka Court on Wednesday sentenced a Peruvian citizen to life term of imprisonment for possessing 3kg of contraband cocaine.

Judge Sheikh Samidul Islam of Dhakas Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge court delivered the verdict in presence of convict Jagaseta Alvarado Juana Pablo Rafael.
According to the case, on June 11 in 2013, officials of the Directorate of Narcotics Control conducted a raid on the seventh floor of a sophisticated hotel in the citys Tejgaon area.

After searching the room and its occupants belongings, 3kg of cocaine was recovered from a travel bag in Rafaels possession. Inspector Mofazzal Hossain of Narcotics Control Directorate filed a case on the same day.

On September 17 in 2013, Narcotics Control Directorate inspector Obaidul Karim submitted charge sheet against six people. On June 18 in 2015, the trial started. 15 testified before the court in the case.
