A Dhaka court on Wednesday sentenced a Peruvian national for life in a case filed under Narcotics Control Act for possessing 3kg of cocaine.
Besides, the court awarded 10 years' of life sentence to Pakistani national--Mostafa Ashraf-- in the case.
Judge Sheikh Samidul Islam of the third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka pronounced the judgement in presence of Peruvian national Jagaseta Albharado Juana.
Four other accused were acquitted from the case as their charges were not proved.
Before the judgement, Peruvian national Jagaseta was produced from the jail. But another five accused, including the Pakistani national, are absconding.
According to the case statement, on secret information, on June 11, 2013, the officials of the Department of Narcotics Control conducted a raid at room no 707 of Western La Vinci Hotel in the capital's Tejgaon. Then the team recovered 3kg of cocaine from a travel bag of Jagaseta Albharado Juana.
Mofazzel Hossain, inspector of the Department of Narcotics Control, later, filed the case.
On September 17, 2013, the Department of Narcotics Control inspector submitted chargesheet against the six accused.
