Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui said that BGB is always proactive to deal with any situation arising at border.

He said these while visiting the Bangladesh-Myanmar border under BGB's Cox's Bazar region on Wednesday in response to a question from journalists.

The DG visited Tumbru and Ghumdhum borders of Naikxyongchhari upazila under Bandarban district and the adjoining BOP in charge of Cox's Bazar Battalion (34 BGB) of BGB in the morning. During the visit, he inquired about the BGB members of all levels on duty at the border and exchanged views with them.

At the same time, he ordered everyone to perform their duties with utmost professionalism to protect the sovereignty of the motherland and to be always active in dealing with any situation arising at the border. At the same time, he expressed his thanks and gratitude to all the BGB members on duty for performing their duties with utmost efficiency and professionalism.

Meanwhile, the BGB DG inquired about all the members of the Border Guard Police (BGP), Myanmar Army, Immigration, Police and other organizations who crossed the border and took shelter in Bangladesh to save their lives due to the ongoing conflict in Myanmar's Rakhine State. Then he visited the BGP members who arrived with injuries and were being treated at hospital.

Later, during an exchange of views with journalists, the BGB Director General said that the border situation is completely under the control of BGB.

"We are trying our best to deal with the situation by following the instructions of the honorable Prime Minister, being patient, humane and maintaining good international relations. Regardless of the circumstances, no one else will be allowed to enter Bangladesh illegally'', he added.

He also expressed his firm belief that BGB is ready to make maximum sacrifices to deal with any situation arising on the border to protect the sovereignty of the motherland.
