GAIBANDHA, Jan 23: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kazi Nahid Rasul on Monday said, Gram Police are the reliable sources of the government at the grassroots level or in the rural areas.
"Gram Police are responsible for security in rural areas, providing support to law-enforcing agencies including Bangladesh Police. They play a significant role in informing about criminals and saboteurs in their respective areas in a bid to maintain law and order situation peacefully".
He made this comments while addressing an inaugural session of five-day training for the Gram Police members of different unions in Sadar Upazila.
Sadar Upazila administration arranged the training in the conference room of the upazila administration to increase skills of the Gram Police members.
Deputy Director of Local Government and also Deputy Secretary of the government Md Shariful Islam spoke at the session as the special guest.
It was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahmud Al-Hasan.
DC asked the Gram Police members to be more serious and professional in discharging their duties to help the government build crime free rural society.
Upazila level officials and journalists of print and electronic media were present at the function.
