Youth stabbed dead by snatcher at Tongi

A young man was reportedly stabbed to death by snatcher in Gazipur's Tongi on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Tongi's Hossain Market area around 5:30 am.
The victim was Nayan Mridha, 36, son of Mannan Mridha, hailed from Barishal's Banaripara. He worked in a factory at Tongi.

According to locals, on Tuesday night, Nayan Mridha came Tongi from Barishal by bus. On Wednesday morning, when he got off the bus near Tongi Hossain Market, some snatchers stopped him. At one point, they stabbed Nayan and ran away.

Later, local people rescued him and took to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital where he was declared dead by on duty doctor.

Tongi West Police Station officer-in-charge Sakhawat Hossain confirmed said legal measures are under process in this regard.
