Jatiya Party (JaPa) chairman Golam Mohammad Quader has unofficially been elected with 'Plough' symbol in Rangpur-3 (Sadar and City Corporation) constituency in the 12th Jatiya Sangsad election held on Sunday.

His nephew and Ershad's son Rahgir Almahi Saad was the MP in the constituency earlier.
GM Quader was declared unofficially elected at 8:30pm on Sunday (January 7) at the office of District Returning Officer in Rangpur city.

Quader bagged 81,861 votes in 175 centres with 'Plough' symbol. His nearest rival was transgender candidate Anwara Islam Rani who got 23,326 votes with 'Eagle' symbol.

District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mobassher Hasan said GM Quader was declared unofficially elected as he bagged 81,861 votes with 'Plough' symbol.

The total number of voters in the constituency are 4,94,768. Of them, 2,47,294 are female and 2,47,472 are female, and two are transgender.

It may be mentioned that Jatiya Party's GM Quader was offered the seat withdrawing 'Boat' candidate in Rangpur-3 constituency Tushar Kanti Mondol. In this constituency, GM Quader nearest rival ws transgender candidate Anwara Islam Rani.
