Amrai Pari Paribarik Nirjaton Protirodh (APPNP) Chairperson Sultana Kamal on Friday said women face brutality and cruelty when they want to take their own decision.
"Women face cruel attacks when they intend to take their own decision. This is the reality of a patriarchal society," she made this comment at a rally organised by APPNP in front of the National Press Club.
Criticising about present trend of the society she reinforced, "...people of the society always accuse the victim woman for the brutality on them. Whereas, the culprit remains out of the context. This exiting perception and mindset of people helps the perpetrators to escape the law." Following the rally, APPNP arranged a press conference and presented a paper on the statistics of violence against women.
Referring to girls' marriage age from 18 including some special conditions, she said these conditions will cause more child marriages across the country.
She said the government's achievements could be defined as absurd because of violence against women including Tanu, Khadiza, Puja and others.
