Dengue leaves one dead in 24hrs

One more person died from dengue fever across the country during the last 24 hours till Friday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 1,702 this year.

The death was reported outside the capital.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), some 56 patients were hospitalised with viral fever during this period.

Among the new patients, 14 were admitted to the hospital in the capital and 42 were outside it.

Some 728 patients are currently receiving treatment from different hospitals across the country.

As many as 3,21,001 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country this year and 3,18,571 out of the hospitalised patients, however, recovered during the period.

The country recorded 281 dengue deaths in 2022, the highest on record after the 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Additionally, the DGHS recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
