Opposition ‘set fire’ to 5 election camps of AL candidate in in Naogaon-5

The supporters of independent candidate Dewan Sekar Ahmed Shishan reportedly set fire to five electoral camps of Awami League-nominated candidate Barrister Nazim Uddin Jalil in Naogaon-5 on Sunday night.

The incidents took place in Gostahatir intersection area of the town, Trimohani Bazar area of Sadar Upazila, Halghoshpara of Bakhtarpur Union and Chaktartao Muktarpara area at night.

Denying the allegation independent candidate and president of AL Naogaon municipal unit Dewan Saker Ahmed said that the supporters of AL candidate Nazim Uddin Jalil they set fire to their own election camps. As they know they will be defeated in the election, so they are staging drama.

Regarding the issue, Mahbubul Haque Kamal, president of Naogaon Sadar Upazila unit Awami League, said they taking preparations to submit a written complaint to the police station and electoral commission.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naogaon Sadar police station Zahidur Rahman said they were informed about the incident and will take action after investigation.
