Ruling Awami League (AL) on Sunday gave 26 seats to Jatiya Party (JP) and six seats to other partners of the 14-party alliance.
AL Office Secretary Biplob Barua told reporters at AL Presidents Dhanmondi office that the ruling party candidates will contest for 263 seats.
"The candidates of the 14-Party Alliance will contest with the Boat symbol of AL and the candidates of Jatiya Party will contest with their partys symbol, Plough," said Biplob.
According to AL sources, ruling party candidates in five more seats, whose nomination papers were cancelled, have moved the High Court Division seeking restoration of their candidacy.
Until the High Court Division gives its decision, AL will not take any decision about these seats, said AL sources.
Awami league President Sheikh Hasina, also chairman of the partys Parliamentary Nomination Board, on Sunday sent a letter with a list of 25 AL candidates to the Election Commission (EC) to take necessary steps for the withdrawal of their candidature.
In the letter, Sheikh Hasina mentioned that the candidature of these candidates will be withdrawn as there are candidates of the alliance in the seats. Same time, the letter also mentioned the names 25 Jatiya Party candidates who will contest with their party symbol in the seats.
According to the list, the candidature of AL candidate in Thakuragon-3 Imdadul Haque, Nilphamari-3 Golam Mostafa, Nilphamari-4 Jakir Hossain Babul, Rangpur-1 Rezaul Karim Raju, Rangpur-3 Tushar Kanti Mandol, Kurigram-1 Aslam Hossain Sawdagarh, Kurigram-2 Zafar Ali, Gaibandha-1 Afruja Bari, Gaibandha-2 Mahbub Ara Gini, Bogura-2 Touhidur Rahman Manik, Bogura-3 Sirajul Islam Khan Raju, Satkhira-2 Asaduzzaman Babu, Potuakhali-1 Afzal Hossain, Barishal-3 Sarder Md. Khaleda Hossain, Pirojpur-3 Ashrafur Rahman, Mymensingh-5 Abdul Hai Akand, Mymensingh-8 Abdus Sattar, Kishoreganj-3 Nasirul Islam Khan, Manikganj-1 Abdus Salam, Dhaka-18 Mohammad Habib Hasan, Habiganj-1 Dr. Mushfiq Hossain Chowdhury, Brahmanbaria-2 Md. Shahjahan Alam, Feni-3 Abul Bashar, Chattogram-5 Mohammad Abdus Salam and Chattogram-8 Noman Al Mahmud will be withdrawn.
In these seats, Jatiya Party candidates will contest. In Thakuragon-3 Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Nilphamari-3 Rana Mohammad Sohel, Nilphamari-4 Ahsan Adelur Rahman, Rangpur-1 Hossain Maqbul Shahriar, Rangpur-3 Ghulam Muhammed Quader, Kurigram-1 AKM Mostafizur Rahman, Kurigram-2 Ponir Uddin Ahmed, Gaibandha-1 Shamim Haider Patwary, Gaibandha-2 Abdur Rashid Sarker, Bogura-2 Shariful Islam Jinnah, Bogura-3 Nurul Islam Talukder, Satkhira-2 Ashrafuzzaman Ashu, Potuakhali-1 ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, Barishal-3 Golam Kiria Tipu, Pirojpur-3 Mashrekul Azam Rabi, Mymensingh-5 Salah Uddin Ahmed Mukti, Mymensingh-8 Fakhrul Imam, Kishoreganj-3 Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Manikganj-1 Jahirul Alam Rubel, Dhaka-18 Sherifa Quader, Habiganj-1 Abdul Munim Chowdhury, Brahmanbaria-2 Md.
Abdul Hamid, Feni-3 Masud Uddin Chowdhury, Chattogram-5 Anisul Islam Mahmud and in Chattogram-8 -- Solaiman Alam Sheth.
AL hasn nominated anyone in Kushtia-2 and Narayanganj-5 during the nomination of AL candidates.
In Narayanganj-5, Jatiya Partys AKM Selim Osman will contest while in Kushtia-2, JSD President Hasanul Haq Inu will fight against the independent candidates.
Candidates of 14-Party Alliance will contest in five more seats with the Boat symbol.
They include, Bangladesh Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon in Barishal-2, in Rajshahi-2, Fazle Hossain Badsha also of the same party, JSDs AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen in Bogur-4 and Mosharaf Hossain in Laksmipur-4, and JPs (Manju) Anwar Hossain Manju in Pirojpur-2.
To share seats with the alliance partners and other parties, the leaders of the parties held a series of meetings, and on Saturday night they arrived at a consensus.
But, Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal of Dilip Barua, Tariqat Federation of Nojibul Bashar Maijbhandari, Ganatantri Party of Md Arash Ali and Shahadat Hossain have been denied any seat.
In Chattogram-2, Nojibul Bashar Maijbhandari and Syed Saifuddin Ahmed of newly formed Bangladesh Supreme Party will contest as independent candidates.
Nojibul Bashar Maijbhandari is the uncle of Saifuddin.
Maijbhandaris Tariqat Federation will field candidates in 41 seats. This time, they will contest independently with their party symbol.
