BNP vice-chairman Maj (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad could not go to New Delhi for medical treatment on Tuesday as immigration officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport returned him.
Hafiz Uddin was returned from the airport immigration at about 12:00 noon.
Hafiz Uddin said he had a scheduled surgical operation at a hospital in New Delhi on Wednesday. Because of it, he went to the airport along with his wife.
Hafiz Uddin further said despite his luggage was put on board the aircraft, he was asked to wait by the immigration officials.
Later, he was told that he would not be able to go abroad. Then he returned home.
BNP leader Hafiz Uddin said, "I fought for this country. I needed to go to Delhi for medical treatment. But, the government didn allow me to go abroad."
