Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said on Sunday that the ruling party will begin its election campaign from a mass-rally in Sylhet after offering prayers at Hazrat Shahjalals mazar on December 20.
"The official polls campaign of Awami League will start rom a mass-rally in Sylhet after offering prayers at Hazrat Shahjalals mazar on December 20. By December 17, AL will confirm the matter of seat sharing with its allies including Jatiya Party and 14-party alliance," he said while briefing media at the AL presidents Dhanmondi political office on Sunday evening.
Present among others were AL presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, joint general secretaries Dr Hasan Mahmud, Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, organising secretary Mirza Azam, and office secretary Biplab Barua.
"The issue of seat sharing among the allies would be finalised by that time as we have time till December 17," he added.
Regarding BNP movement to realise their single point demand, Quader said, "AL doesn care about the movement of BNP as its traditional programmes like hartal and blockade is the result of its failed politics. The human rights violators are now vocal about human rights issues. It seems that they are the sole agent of world leader, the US."
"If you want to speak about human rights, tell about the human rights in Palestine. Some 1,800 SEE PAGE 2 COL 1from page 1
people were killed there, and still the killing is on. However, the US has extended its support to Israel at United Nations Security Council meeting. It has been proved again that naughty boy Israel is the son of America," Quader said.
He also claimed that Bangladeshs name is not in the list of the 13 countries, the US imposed sanction for violation of human rights recently.
"The August 15 killing incident in 1975 was an unusual occurrence after countrys independence. It was a big incident of human rights violation. Four national leaders were killed brutally inside jail. But, families of the victims hadn got justice. They had just tried to destroy pro-liberation forces," he added.
He said, "After Zia, Khaleda Zia did politics of killing and disappearance. BNP has no shame as human rights were violated during the period of Zia and Khaleda Zia. BNP created the disgraceful global example of human rights violation. They have made a world record of human rights violation during their rule."
"What would be the gain of demanding justice from those who supported Israel?," he inquired.
He also claimed, "Bangladesh is the sufferer of the world crisis not created by it."
