A sexagenarian man was hacked to death at his own house allegedly by his son-in-law at Tarakanda upazila in Mymensingh district on Saturday.
The incident happened around 3:00 pm at Nitarashi village in Dhakua union.
Deceased Kasim Uddin, 60, was a resident of the Nitarashi village.
Locals said Mahmudul Hasan struck his father-in-law Kasim with a sharp machete at one stage of altercation over a family feud after he went his in-laws to bring back his wife to his home, leaving Kasim critically injured.
He was rescued by local people and taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Police arrested Mahmudul with the help of local people, said Tarakanda Police Station officer-in-charge Abdullah Al Mamun.
Legal steps in this regard are under process, he added.
