Govt heading towards another farcical election: CPB

Leaders of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) have observed that the government is heading towards another farcical election undermining the mass people's demand and public opinion.

They were speaking at a rally organised at Mukti Bhaban premises at Purana Paltan in the capital on Friday (November 24) afternoon with CPB central committee president Mohammad Shah Alam in the chair.

The CPB leaders said various ill strategies are being adopted to draw different unknown political parties and persons to the elections to hide the 'unilateral' stigma. But, it cannot be kept secret that those ill strategies are being carried on from a particular place.

They said the election according to these strategies will not alleviate the ongoing political crises in the country. Rather, the country and its people will face new crises day by day. It will lead to aggravate the government's autocratic and authoritarian trends. Moreover, it will deepen the current economic crisis.

According to them, taking advantage of the situation, the imperialist forces will tend to interfere more in the country's internal affairs. The "force of darkness" will try to create an undemocratic situation which is undesirable in a country which had achieved its independence through a nine-month long liberation war.

The rally was addressed by CPB general secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, former president and centyral committee member Mujahidul Islam Selim, Dhaka North president Dr Sajedul Huq Rubel, Dhaka South general secretary Joly Talukder, and central committee member Hafizul Islam. The rally was moderated by CPB central committee's assistant general secretary Mihir Ghosh.

Following the rally, a protest procession was brought out which paraded different roads in the capital and finally terminated in front of the CPB central office.
