The local administration imposed section 144 at three places of Raipura upazila in Narsingdi on Friday following a clash between two factions of Awami Legaue.
The restriction will remain in force in Raipura Bazar area, Raipura bus stand area and upazila AL office area till 8:00 pm on Friday.
Police said Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju, a former minister and also local AL MP, attended a meeting of the upazila administration in the morning.
When ABM Rijaul Kabir Kawser, an executive member of the AL central committee, went to meet Raju at the meeting he refused to meet Kawser.
Raju also locked AL office in the upazila headquarters.
Protesting the incident, supporters of Kawser brought out a procession, escalating tension in the area.
Later Abdul Matin, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of the upazila, imposed the ban.
