This is the first time at Paikgachha in Khulna that the road construction work has started using eco-friendly durable concrete (Uni-Block) method.
Recently, Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has started maintenance work of 431 metres long and 2.7 metres wide road from Boalia Farm in Godaipur Union of the upazila to Hitampur Sadhu Para in the north using the Uni-Block, spending Tk 27.49 lakh.
This is the first time in Paikgachha, instead of bituminous and brick, the local government engineering department has started road construction using Uni-Block made of sand and stone.
According to the concerned officials, if the use of the eco-friendly Uni-Block increases in road, use of brick can be stopped and will stop and the arable land of the country will be protected, and environmental pollution will be reduced.
Visiting in Godaipur Union of Sadar upazila, constructor Abdul Samad was seen constructing the road with Uni-Block on the road. But the contractor Md Alauddin Gazi has got the road work. This is the first time they are constructing a road in Paikgachha with Uni-Blocks. Hope that, this road will be more durable than the carpeted road.
Local resident Babu said, "First time we see the road construction work with bricks on rough cement instead of carpeting. It seems that this road will be more durable than other roads.
"This is the first time we have brought this road construction project in Paikgachha using Uni-Block. Under this project, 431 meters of road is being constructed in the Gadaipur union of Sadar upazila. Hope that, the roads made in this method will be more durable than other roads," said Paikgachha upazila engineer Md Hafizur Rahman.
