180 businessmen awarded with CIP status

A total of 180 businessmen were awarded the Commercially Important Person (CIP) status for their extraordinary contribution to the economy in 2021.

Among the total recipients, 140 were given the CIP status under the export category and the rest 40 under the trade category as ex-officio as the directors of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi handed over the award to the businessmen in a ceremony at a hotel in the capital on Sunday. The CIPs and designated representatives of CIPs received the crest and cards.

Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh and FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin were also present, among others.
The commerce ministry and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) have jointly been awarding the CIP cards to the winners following the CIP guidelines of the 2013.

A CIP receives a special ID card from the Ministry of Commerce and from the government. The CIPs are invited to the Citizen's reception for various national ceremonies, including entry to the Bangladesh Secretariat and the city corporation.
