
All-rounder Rumana Ahmed named Bangladesh Women's Cricket Team's new captain for all formats replacing two formats captains Jahanara Alam (T20) and Salma Khatun (ODI).
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon announced it on Monday after the board meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Rumana was selected as captain for the next year's World Cup qualifying in Sri Lanka. She will lead the team in the upcoming T20 Asia Cup which will starts from November 27 in Thailand.
Last year, Jahanara Alam was selected as the captain in T20 format while Salma Khatun stayed as the captain in ODI format. But now, replacing two-captain Rumana Ahmed is the new captain in all three formats. Within a year BCB bring a change in the women's team leadership.
On September, Rumana's historic hat-trick sealed a narrow win for Bangladesh, which was the first hat-trick in international cricket by a Bangladesh Women's cricketer. In 2011, Rumana's outstanding performance earned the first victory for Bangladesh Women's Cricket Team in international match and the leg-spinner cum batter was named the player of the match.
