A schoolboy reportedly committed suicide by taking sleeping pills in his house at Mohammadpur upazila of Magura district on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Rezwan, son of Bazlur Rahman, a resident of the area. He was an eighth grader of Govt. RSKH Institution in Mohammadpur.
Quoting family members of the deceased, Mohammadpur Police Station officer-in-charge Asit Kumar Roy said Rezwan had been demanding a motorcycle for some days. On Thursday night, he took sleeping pills as his parents didn’t buy him the motorcycle that he demanded.
He was rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital as he fell ill after taking excessive pills.
Later, he died in the hospital at 12 am while undergoing treatment.
An unnatural death case was filed with Mohammadpur police in this regard, the OC added.
