BNP will come to power again next year: Major Hafiz

BNP will come to power again next year, said the party's vice-chairman Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.

He was speaking at a discussion at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital on Friday afternoon.

Major (Retd) Hafiz said BNP has awakened again. People in villages have awakened hearing the sounds of footsteps of thousands of youth. There is no doubt that BNP will come to power again next year.

The BNP leader said, "We fought for democracy, but the democracy has totally disappeared from Bangladesh. Why did we fight for the country? Why do we have to fight for democracy again after so many years?"

Major (Retd) Hafiz said: "Awami League leaders and workers have said BNP will not be allowed to take to the street in December. Does the month of December belong to them only? This government will face the same consequences what Yahia Khan, Ayub Khan and Ershad governments had faced."

He said the government doesn't have money in hands. It will be possible to vibrant the country's economy is the money laundered by Awami League leaders can be brought back. Then may come to power again if they leave the power in time.
