Former JU VC Prof Dr Mustahidur Rahman dies of Covid-19

Former Jahangirnagar University vice-chancellor Prof Dr Khandaker Mustahidur Rahman has died of Covid-19.

He died at about 3:30pm on Friday at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Islami Bank Central Hospital at Kakrail in Dhaka while underwent treatment there. He was 74.

Prof Dr Khandaker Mustahidur Rahman left behind his wife, a son, two daughters, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.

He was one of the six teachers who first joined Jahangirnagar University. He took the first class of the university. Joining the university in 1971 as a teacher, he taught at the Department of Economics until his retirement.

Prof Dr Khandaker Mustahidur Rahman served Jahangirnagar University as a senate member, syndicate member, president and secretary of Jahangirnagar University Teachers Association. Subsequently, he was appointed vice-chancellor of the university in 2004 and completed his four-year tenure successfully.

Jahangirnagar University vice-chancellor Prof Dr Farzana Islam, leaders of two nationalist teachers' organisations, former and present teachers and students, officers and employees condoled the death of Prof Dr Khandaker Mustahidur Rahman.
