A Dhaka has ordered to send presenter and film maker Debashish Biswas to jail in a fraud case.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Asaduzzaman Noor on Wednesday passed the order rejecting his bail prayer.
Earlier, Debashish Biswas surrendered before the court with a bail prayer following issuance of an arrest warrant.
According to the case statement, on July 30, 2019, one Liton Sarkar Imon purchased four movies--Mayer Marjada, Shuvo Bibaho,Apeksha and Ajante-- produced by Debashish's mother Gayatri Biswas at Tk 140,000 to screen those commercially on his PNTV YouTube channel.
But, when Liton uploaded the movies on his channel, the YouTube authorities shut down the channel on copyright issue.
He, later, came to know that the Debashish Biswas had sold the four movies out to two other people in 2017.
On September 8, 2019, Liton filed a fraud case with the CMM Court against Debashish Biswas.
The court issued arrest warrant on October 21 as the film maker did not comply with the court order that asked him to appear before it.
