Former Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan on Sunday filed a defamation case against two people, including Daily Inqilab editor AMM Bahauddin.

The case, which was lodged with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sayeed, also sought the arrest warrant of the accused.

The another accused is Abdul Quader, director of Quderia Publications And Products Ltd.

On July 26, immigration officers at Shahjalal International Airport barred Oaishe Khan, daughter of former Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, from boarding a London-bound flight after she showed a false COVID-19 negative report.

The next day in a press conference, National Institute of Laboratory medicine and Referral Centre Director Prof Dr Abul Khayer Mohammad Shamsuzzaman claimed that Oaishe Khan has been 'mistakenly' given the negative report of her coronavirus test.

On July 28, a report was published in the Daily Inqilab over the issue which forced the former Minister to file the case.
