Noted music director Alauddin Ali passes away

Noted lyricist and music director Alauddin Ali has passed away.

He died at about 5:30pm on Sunday at Universal Medical College Hospital (Formerly Ayesha Memorial Hospital) at Mohakhali in Dhaka.

Alauddin Ali's daughter Alif Alauddin conformed the death of her father.

Alauddin Ali's family admitted him to the hospital at about 5:45am on Saturday. He was rushed to life support as he was facing difficulties in breathing.

It may be recalled that Alauddin Ali had long been suffering from inflammation in his lungs and infection in blood apart from breathing complications. Tumour was detected in his lungs in an examination on July 3, 2015. His treatment was held in Dhaka and bangkok. He also took treatment at Centre for Rehabilitation and Paralysed Centre at Savar for a long time.

Alauddin Ali was a very distinguished musician, music director and lyricist of Bangladesh.

He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director five times for the films 'Golapi Ekhon Traine' (1978), 'Sundori' (1979), 'Koshai' (1980), 'Jogajog' (1988) and 'Lakhe Ekta' (1990). He won the Best Music Composer award for the film 'Laal Doriya' (2002) and the Best Lyrics award for 'Premik' (1985) He has directed music for more than 300 films.
