Tree plantation programme begins at Ramu Cantonment

A tree plantation programme has begun in Ramu Cantonment marking the birth centenary of Father of the  Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed on Tuesday inaugurated the programme at all cantonments of the country through video conferencing with a theme ‘Green, Pure environment, Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh', said a press release on Wedneday.

Later, the tree plantation programme began at the cantonment with the leadership of Maj Gen M Mainullah Chowdhury, the 10 Infantry Division GOC and Area Commander of Cox's Bazar area.

High officials and Army members initially planted 100 fruit-bearing, forest and medicinal trees.

The programme will continue for a month.

During the period, all army and civilians will plant at least one sapling which will be total 1.16 lakh saplings.
