More than 150 houses and two educational institutions were destroyed as tornado and storm lashed Bhola district on Wednesday night.
Besides, five people were injured as tree fell on them and many trees and electric poles were uprooted by the storm.
In Lalmohan upazila, a tornado hit Pashchim Charumed, Ramganj and Lord Hardinge union parishad are at 10.30pm on Wednesday damaging 10 houses.
Victims of the storm and tornado said they lost all their belongings by the storm that damaged their houses. They took shelter under the open sky and pleaded to the authorities concerned for assistance.
Bhola-3 MP Nurannabi Chowdhury Shawon on Thursday morning visited the affected areas and personally gave Tk 5,000 as cash assistance to the affected families.
Lalmohan Upazila Nirbahi Officer Habibul Hasan Rumi said they are preparing the list of the affected families.
In Charfasion upazila, areas of Nil Kamal, Nurabad, Aminabad and Aslampur union parishads were hit hard by the storm and more than dozens of houses damaged.
