The Bangabandhu Chair was inaugurated at Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman or the Mujib Barsha.
Selina Hossain, a renowned novelist, has been appointed as the Bangabandhu Chair of the BPATC.
The novelist took the responsibility at a meeting held at the BPATC conference room on Wednesday.
Md Rakib Hossain, Secretary to the government and the BPATC rector, chaired the meeting.
She will perform several duties as newly-appointed 'Bangabandhu Chair'
which includes providing advice on research work about Bangabandhu,
giving instructions to organize 12 seminars on Bangabandhu in next 12
months, deliver 'Bangabandhu Memorial Speech', inclusion of
Bangabandhu's philosophy in constituting text curriculum for training.
Selina Hossain, an Independence Award winner, is known as one of the main litterateurs in post-liberation Bangladesh.
She achieved various awards--Bangla Academy Literary Award, Ekushey Padak, Independence Day Award-- as recognition of his notable works.
In professional life, she performed first woman director general of Bangla Academy, president of Bangladesh Shishu Academy and others.
Apart from writing, she is also engaged in various social and cultural works.
