Boy kills self failing to get GPA 5

A Primary Education Completion (PEC) examinee reportedly committed suicide in Bauphal upazila of Patuakhali on Tuesday afternoon for not getting GPA 5 .

Deceased Fahim was the son of Harun Ar Rashid, a resident of Baro Dalima village in the upazila. He was a student of Baro Dalima Azad Govt Primary School.

Family members said Fahim’s elder brother Fahad got GPA 5 in this year’s Junior School Certificate (JSC) examination but he failed to score the same grade in PEC examination which frustrated him.

Later, he hanged himself in the afternoon in the house.

Bauphal Police Station officer in-charge Khandakar Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter.
