Two killed in Barapukuria coal mine roof collapse

Two workers were killed and seven others injured when the roof of an under-construction power substation at Barapukuria coal mine collapsed in Dinajpur on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Akash, 16, a resident of Malipara Guchcha village in Fulbari upazila, and Proshanto Ray, 17, son of Bhegu Ray, of Chouhati village in Parbotipur upazila of the district.

The roof of under-construction power substation collapsed around 4:30pm, leaving two workers dead and seven others trapped.

Being informed, two units of Fulbari Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and rescued the trapped workers.

Petrobangla Director (Administration) Md Mostafa Kamal confirmed the matter.
