Actor Misha Saudagar has been elected as the president of 'Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samity' for the second time in a row. He has defeated his rival candidate actress Arifa Parvin Moushumi by 102 votes in the biennial election held at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) premises on October 25. On the other hand, actor Zayed Khan, a member of Misha-Zayed panel, has been elected as the general secretary of the association. The Misha-Zayed panel won 18 posts out of 21 and will lead the association till 2021. Illias Kanchon, the chief election commissioner, announced the result of the poll around 2 am on October 26.
Earlier the voting began around 9 am and continued till 5 pm on October 25. Out of total 449 voters, 386 voters casted their votes in the election. Misha secured 227 votes in contrast to 125 votes casted for his rival candidate Moushumi. Moushumi fought in the election as an independent candidate. On the other hand, Zayed got 284 votes while his rival candidate Ilias Cobra secured 68 votes. Monowar Hossain Dipjol and Masum Parvez Rubel have been elected as the vice presidents with 311 and 293 votes respectively.
Other elected persons for remaining posts are- Arman (assistant vice president), Mamunun Emon (international affairs secretary), Zakir Hossain (sports and cultural affairs secretary), Subrata (organising secretary), Jackie Alamgir (office and publicity secretary) and Farhad Hossain (treasurer). Ten executive members have also been elected. They are- Aruna Bishwas, Anjana, Afzal Sharif, Asif Iqbal, Alexandar Bow, Rozina, Nasrin, Maruf Akib, Joy Chowdhury and Jasmine.
